About The Wandering B

I detest flying. I'm not afraid of flying itself; I loathe the closeness of everyone. You are crammed in between strangers, there isn't much leg room, and forget about ever finding the perfect position to tilt your head back to sleep. Sure, it saves a lot of time traveling and you can spend more time enjoying your vacation destination, but to me, it can never beat a good old fashion road trip!
For me, the road trip is almost better than the actual destination (almost). Along the way, you can find the little mom and pop diners, small businesses, and the craziest of tourist attractions. Don't even get me started on the scenery! I think I first fell in love with road trips when I was in third grade (many moons ago). My family drove down to Florida from Wisconsin. We rented a van and piled in. We talked, we sang, we found weird little hotels and places to eat. We drove through mountains and stopped at a little gift shop on the side of the road where my parents bought me a preserved dead starfish. It smelled salty and fishy. I wrapped it up and tucked it in a safe place in my luggage.
With that being said, if you hoped to find someone to talk about how they booked cheap flights and took extravagant vacations somewhere, I'm unfortunately the wrong blog for you. I will be sharing my experiences not only at my destination, but the ones I have along the way. The little things tucked off the beaten path just waiting to be discovered are what make a trip memorable, not just the extravagant parts.
Seeing as how I haven't been able to travel much since that trip in third grade (I played on traveling sports teams that took up a lot of our time), this blog will also showcase my learning curves as a traveler (undoubtedly). We will be growing together, not only in what my experiences will teach us, but hopefully as a united community of wanderlust individuals searching for those little moments, and big moments, of bliss.
